About

I started my career as an actor after graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Art, majoring in Television Studies and Performance. After taking a gap year in London (2005) I have acted in a number of plays and films including Children’s Theatre, Shakespeare (The Actors Centre), student films and lead roles in two independent films, most recently the new film by Eric Miyeni – Frozen Time.

Wits gave me a background into all aspects of the industry but I discovered I enjoyed video editing the most.
In 2008, I joined General Post (Post-Production Agency) working as a freelance video editor, which allowed me an opportunity to still go to acting auditions.
Working for various production companies I have developed and honed my communication skills, working with a variety of personalities and understood the importance of working in a team.
I also assisted my mentor, Michael Bind, at Event Television improving my editing skills and all-round production capabilities.

In 2010, I co-founded an independent company with my business partner called ‘Create your Alternative’. We have produced promos, documentaries, EPKs and recently produced the behind the scenes doc of the film Material. My role has included not only as editor, but also managing projects, dealing with clients one on one and tailoring the finished product to the clients specific needs.

Studying drama and working as an actor I am aware of the subtle nuances and tricks in creating a dramatic structure and strengthening a given story. I have also studied music achieving my Grade 8 level in clarinet. A good sense of rhythm is vital for any video editor!
I constantly seek perfection, favoring content first over style, until not only the client is happy, but I am as well.

I mainly work on Final Cut Pro but am familiar with Avid composer and Adobe Premiere. I am currently expanding my skill set and learning new programs including Photoshop and After Effects.
